Colonie- Frank J. Mele, 65, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 8, 2005. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Mele. Frank had worked for the NYS Capital Police for a number of years until his retirement in 1991. Some of his hobbies include a love for darts, bowling and golfing. He was a member of the Albany Elks Dart League, A Trustee of the Albany Elks Lodge, a member of the Polish-American Citizens Club, and also the American Legion Zaloga Post # 1520. Frank was a kidder and joker all his life. He lived life to the fullest, loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.
Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory his fiancée Eileen (Manning) Veeder of Colonie and her two daughters Michelle Manning and Amanda Veeder, his two brothers Joseph F. Mele (Helga) of Augusta, GA, and Robert W. Mele (Regina) of Troy, his special nephew Scott Mele and several other nieces and nephews. Frank is also survived by his extended family Cecelia and Rick Swett, John and Patty Manning, Diane Manning and James and Valerie Manning, and his beloved cat BoBo.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Frank J. Mele.
