Frank P. Sgarlata

SGARLATA, Frank P., Guilderland entered into the arms our Lord peacefully on November 4, 2013 in his 91st year of life. Born October 5, 1923 Francesco Paolo Sgarlata in Albany to the late John Sgarlata and Margaret (Giuffre) Sgarlata. Frank is survived by his 3 children, Rev. John (Lisa) Sgarlata, Amie (Stephen) Leitheuser, and by his youngest son and loving caretaker, Mark Sgarlata. Frank is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Adam, Joshua and Jennifer Sgarlata, Melissa Leitheuser and Danielle (Jon) Daniels and Corey Sgarlata. He is also survived by his brother Philip J. (Patricia) Sgarlata of Delmar, along with many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased in death by his loving wife of 49 years Patricia Ann (Lamkins) Sgarlata.

Frank graduated from Albany High School and graduated from Albany Business School. From working in the family produce business, he became an award winning insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life. After retiring he spent many years working at the Guilderland 20 Mall Price Chopper retiring in his 89th year of life.


A Mass of Christian burial will be held at All Saints Church (St. Margaret Mary's) in Albany on Monday November 11th at 9 am. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home, Sunday, November 10th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the National Adoption Foundation, 36 Mill Plain Road, Suite 307, Danbury, CT 06811.
