AMSTERDAM, NY – Frank Pensabene, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, where he received compassionate and impeccable care. Born on August, 30, 1919 in Reggio, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco Pensabene and Antonia Crisalli. Frank resided in Brooklyn, NY until he moved to Saugerties with his family in 1960 and then to Amsterdam in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army, Pacific Theater from April 1941 through June 1945 and was a member of the American Legion Post #39. Frank was an auto body repairman and insurance adjuster, retiring in 1982. He had a passion for bowling, participating twice a week in league play until recently. Family was always his primary focus, instilling love, confidence, respect and appreciation for all life has to offer. Frank is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 65 years and their children; Frank Jr. and Caroline Nickerson and Mary Anne Pensabene-Milano. He is the grandfather of Jason and Lindsey, Joshua and Kim, Talia and Eric Lindheimer and Philip Milano, Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Harrison. Also surviving is his brother, John. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister, Antoinette and his brothers, Sam, Tony and Joe.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
