TROY – Francis R. Giering, 69, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born July 19, 1938 in Albany, Frank was the son of the late Francis and Katherine Mullally Giering. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. He worked for the NYS Department of OGS as a carpenter.
Frank dedicated over 30 years to the S. Colonie and New Brunswick Pop Warner organizations. A passionate coach, he helped lead many championship teams.
Frank is survived by his children, Mary Ann (Paul) Kentoffio of Albany, Michael J. (Kathleen) Giering of Andover, NJ, and Susan M. Giering of Albany; his grandchildren, Lillian K. and Robert M. Giering; his brother, William J. (Barbara) Giering of Menands, and three nephews, William Jr., Brian and Bradley.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
