COLONIE – Frank S. Funari, 58, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Monday April 25, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Queens, NY and is the son of Salvatore F. Funari and the late Carmela Luca Funari.
Frank moved to the Albany area 33 years ago and worked as the manager of PK's Italian Kitchen, where he fell in love with his wife of 32 years. He later owned The Little Horn nightclub on Albany Shaker Rd. that was popular with the college crowds. Later he owned Rockwell's restaurant and then worked for Prudential Life Insurance for a short period. Frank learned the electrical business and has been the owner of Togan Electric for 20 years. At the same time he has been a wedding DJ, and had each of his sons work with him during their teens. His daughter was to get her turn this year. Frank enjoyed riding his Harley and actually found great pleasure in mowing the lawn.
He is survived by his wife Diane and their children, Justin, Jared, Brian, and Katelyn; his son Frank Funari, Jr.; grandchildren, Vincent and Alexis; and his siblings, Rosemarie and Michael. He was the beloved brother-in-law and uncle to his wife's large family and will be missed dearly by many friends and co-workers. He was known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and generous heart.
