Frank Sousa

Rensselaer- Frank Sousa, 73, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Frank was the son of the late Joseph and Beulah Sousa. Frank was the devoted husband toTheresa Sousa.

Frank worked in maintenance for over 20 years at the Loudon Arm Apartments before retiring. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Minks Firehouse in Rensselaer. Frank had a "joy" for playing Kick the Can regardless of the time and everyone would join in. Frank was also in for a good game of baseball mostly because he had all the equipment.
Frank and Theresa would do a special vacation treat for the grandchildren and take at least two grandchildren at a time with them to Virginia Beach - memories that will last forever. On the excursions to Great Escape, his favorite rides were the Bumper Cars and Roller Coasters - the great grandchildren were sent ahead to secure his place on line.
Frank enjoyed and celebrated life up until the end.

Frank is survived by his children, Cheryl (William) Sheldon, Frank Sousa, Jr., Bernadette Sousa, David Sousa, Beulah (Paul) Witkowski, Douglas Sousa; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; his siblings, Beulah Terry, Shirley (Edward) Grant, Barbara Gould, John Sousa, Emmanuel Sousa, David (Deborah) Sousa, Douglas (Jody) Sousa; his aunt, Kathleen Fisher; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frank was predeceased by his siblings, Clarence Sousa, Arthur Sousa, Maryanna Bratcher, Edith Richburg, Joe Sousa, and Anthony Sousa.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations - Latham Chapel, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Tuesday August 22, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Blooming Grove Cemetery, Rensselaer, New York.
