Schenectady- Frank V. Czernicki passed away with his family by his side on January 23, 2016 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab Center, Scotia. He was 83 years old.
The son of the late Francis and Anna (Connolly) Czernicki, Frank was born on September 11, 1932 in Albany, NY. Frank served his country honorably in both the US Army and US Navy during the Korean War era. After his service Frank worked as CNA for the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. He was married to Emily Faas in 1958. She predeceased him in 2009.
Frank was Scout Master for Troop #35 in Schenectady for many years. He was active with both the VFW and American Legion in Schenectady. With the American Legion he enjoyed serving breakfast to veterans on Saturday mornings. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hitting people with his cane.
Frank is survived by his children: Frank A. Czernicki of Watervliet, Patrick D. Czernicki (Marie) of Schenectady and Amy P. (Czernicki) Coons of Schenectady; his grandchildren: Andrew F. Czernicki (Kaitlyn) of Coal City, Il, Bethany A. Czernicki of Niskayuna, Sara M. Czernicki of Niskayuna, Jeanette Roach of Schenectady, Kayla Coons (Dwayne) of Altamont and Bryan Coons of Schenectady; his great-grandchildren: Jainaizia McGowan of Schenectady and Emma Leigh Rockenstyre of Altamont; his sister Theresa of Albany and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Frank was predeceased by 3 sisters: Mary, Joan and Barbara.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, January 26 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
