TROY, NY – Frank W. Mace, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was born in Troy on December 30, 1930, and was the son of the late Elsworth and Thelma (Dolphin) Mace. Frank resided in Troy for all of his life. He retired from the Enlarged City School District of Troy in 1992; worked for G & G Erectors (Iron Workers Local #12), and A & P Markets. Frank was a graduate of St. Patrick's School in Troy, and Catholic Central High School. Frank was the proud recipient of the "Friends of Edward Pickens Hall of Fame Award". He was in the CCHS Athletic Hall of Fame, and a life member of the Emerald Athletic Club. Frank was a retired member of the Capital District Chapter of New York State Certified Football Officials for over 20 years (which gained him the nickname of "Coach"). He also had a great love for horses. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his loving wife, Marjorie (Weishaar) Mace. Frank is the beloved father of Linda (Michael) Creighton of Troy, Kathy (Cliff) Barlow of Malta, Debra (Thomas) Prince of Niskayuna, Frank (Donna) Mace, Jr. of Berlin, and Jodi (Bill, Jr.) Mather of Malta. Frank was the dear friend of Dorothy Donelian of Troy. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Vincenza Weishaar of Delmar, and his nephew John (Laura) Weishaar of Middleburgh.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Ave., Troy, then St. Francis de Sales Church, Troy at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.
