Albany- Franklin E. DeGroot, 90, of 41 Osborne Road, Albany passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28th after a brief illness. Born on July 20, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in the Greenpoint neighborhood. He moved to Albany as a young adult where he worked as a plant manager at Albany Medical Center for 34 years. A fan of old movies, country western music, and cookies, he was a kind man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, Susan.

Son of the late Samuel and Lillian (Whittle) DeGroot of Brooklyn, New York, he is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Susan Ann (Charette) DeGroot. In addition he is survived by his mother-in-law, Kathryn (Phoenix) Charette of Loudonville, brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Donna Charette also of Loudonville and Kevin and Lori Charette of Durham, Connecticut, an additional brother-in-law, Wayne Barr and predeceased by a sister-in-law, Diane (Charette) Barr. He had one nephew, Christopher Charette and three nieces, Kelly, Danielle and Natalie Charette.

A private funeral will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, with internment immediately following at Memory Gardens, Albany.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
