ALBANY, NY – Franklin D. Mannolini, Sr., passed away at home on Monday, August 6, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 14, 1932 and was the son of the late Silvio and Carolina (Ferri) Mannolini. Mr. Mannolini was a U.S. Army veteran serving in occupied Germany during the Korean War. He worked for the sheet metal workers Union #83, from where he retired. Frank was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Pine Haven Country Club and golfed with the "Legends." He enjoyed thoroughbred racing and trout fishing. He was a talented craftsman working with metal and stained glass. Frank will also be remembered by those who knew him as having a great sense of humor and quick wit. Frank is the beloved husband of Lois (Szary) Mannolini. He is the devoted father of Franklin D. (Diane) Mannolini, Jr., Mary (Eric) Lifshin and the late Sharon (John Ingro) Mannolini. He is the stepfather of George J. (Karen) Szary, Jr. Frank also held a special place in his heart for Kin Ting, who shared his home with him and his wife, Lois. He is the cherished grandfather of Sarah Lifshin, Emily and Eliot Szary, David, Lois and Katie Ting, Rachael Rogers and David Lifshin. Frank is the brother of Audrey (Carmen) Romano and the late Aldo, Luigi, Larry, Orietta and Jenny Mannolini. Frank's family would like to thank Joan Ting for her caring and sharing, Frank & Lois' niece, Caroline Saccone: "We couldn't have gotten through this without her." and all of our nieces and nephews for all of their care and support during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 10:00 at St. Vincent de Paul's Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Upstate New York/Vermont Chapter, 6 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Franklin D.
