LOUDONVILLE – Freda Irene Miano, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2012 while surrounded by her family in Milford, MA.
Freda was the wife of the late Philip C. Miano of Geneva, NY, daughter of the late William H. and Effie (Albert) Samjohn of West Sand Lake NY, sister of the late William H. Samjohn, Jr. (sister-in-law of the late Xenthippe "Kippy" (Cossack) Samjohn) and the late Dorothy (Samjohn) Casey (sister-in-law to Frank Casey).
After graduating from Averill Park High School in 1941, Freda attended Business College in Troy, NY. She then relocated to Atlantic City, N.J., where, while working at the Red Cross, she met her husband and was married. While raising her growing family, Freda was a valued full-time employee for many years at the Watervliet Arsenal, and in later years as a legal secretary at Albany law firms Hoffman Adjustment Bureau, Harvey and Harvey, Esq., and Gold and Symansky, Esq. and Maxwell and Van Ryn, Esq., retiring at age 65. Throughout her life Freda was an active church member, attending and enjoying fellowship at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Loudonville, NY. for the past thirty-five years. In addition, Freda was an active member of the Lishakill Seniors of Colonie. While Freda enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting, reading, music, flea markets, yard sales, pets, friends and travel, especially to the beach, her greatest commitment and enjoyment was spending time with and doing things for, her family. Rest in eternal peace Gram, we will miss you every single day until we meet again.
A beloved and devoted mother, Freda is survived by her three children, Gary C. Miano of Port Richey, FL., Terri L. (Barry) Morgan of Franklin, MA, and Barry P. (Rhonda) Miano of Loudonville, NY; and ex-mother-in-law to Susan Proko Miano; cherished grandmother of Gary C. Miano, Jr., Jennifer L. Miano, Angelina Philomena Miano, Rachael Irene Miano, Daniel Philip Morgan and Cassandra Rose Morgan. Freda will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 510 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Following the graveside service a luncheon will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In place of flowers, donations may be made in Freda's memory to the Disabled American Veterans, William J. Lasch Chapter No. 10, VFW Post 8444, 370 Central Avenue, Albany, New York 12206.
