Obituary for Freddie Taylor, Sr.
ALBANY – Frederick "Freddie" Taylor, Sr. passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Canton, MS on May 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank and Helowease Taylor.
Freddie was raised in Clarksdale, MS. He attended Hopson's Public school. He retired from the N.Y.S. Department of O.G.S., after 30 years.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Taylor; children Susan (Russell) Harris of Landam, MD, Freddie Taylor, Jr., Charles (Cynthia) Taylor, Jason Taylor, Cynthia Taylor, and Elizabeth Taylor Ellis, all of Albany. He also raised his grandson Jason M. Taylor and stepson Eugene Hines of Albany. Freddie leaves behind to mourn his siblings Elizabeth (Willie) Sykes of Memphis, Ella (John) Davis of Chicago, Willis George (Annie) Bennett of Maywood, IL, Tyrone Bennett of Chicago, and C.B. (Kate) Bennett of Clarksdale; aunts Ora Smith of Canton, and Betty and Hazel Smith of Jackson, and two special nieces Lori (Jesse) Stoutmire and Shellie (Freddie) Patterson of Amherst, NY. Twenty one grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 pm at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Albany. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
