Frederick A. Greene

Frederick "Al" Greene, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at St. Peters Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Al was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late Fred and Anna Bell Greene. Al proudly served for the United States Navy and later worked for over 50 years for the Pine Hills Cab Company in Albany. Al loved his leisure time; he enjoyed trips up to the track to watch the horses or just spending time out in the sun with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his brother Edward.
Al is survived by his loving wife of over 29 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Greene; his children, Barbara Davis, David, Robin and Loren Greene; and his stepdaughter, Theresa Bleichert. He is the cherished grandfather of, Eric, Kimberly, Josh, Ashley, David Jr., Zackery, Brendan and Logan and his step grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, Dawn and Albert. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff on the fourth and fifth floor at St. Peters for all of their care and compassion shown to Al and his family during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in Al's memory.
