Frederick J. Sharer

COLONIE – Frederick J. Sharer, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late William and Betty Sharer. Frederick worked for the former Delmar Publishing Company from 1961 until 2001 when he retired. After his retirement, he wintered in Florida. He was an avid golfer, achieving a few hole-in-ones at the Colonie Golf Course. Frederick enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake George and Lake Champlain.


He is the beloved father of Patricia A. Sharer of Cold Springs, NY and Michael J. (Brenda) Sharer of Glenville. Frederick is the brother of William (Mary) Sharer Jr. of Port Henry, NY, James Sharer of Mexico, NY, Kathleen (Michael) Hunt of Schenectady and Karen Murray of Niagara Falls, NY. He is the cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Emma and Sean Sharer and Luke DiFucci and the loving nephew of Rose Fuhr of Albany. Also surviving are his longtime friends and neighbors, Mark and Joanne Stevens and many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. At the request of the family memorial contributions would be appreciated to Gilda's Club, 195 West Houston Street, New York, NY 10014 in memory of Frederick J. Sharer.
