Frederick Leach

June 6, 1943 — April 23, 2022

HALFMOON – Frederick Leach, 78, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest with the Lord on April 23, 2022 at his home.

He was born in Colonie on June 6, 1943, the son of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Mazzone) Leach, Sr. Fred graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1961 and attended SUNY Albany.

Fred was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army, from 1963-1969, in Germany during the Vietnam War.

He was employed for 37 years with the NYS Department of Retirement, retiring in 1999.

Fred enjoyed wood carving, painting with oils and acrylics, sketching, and writing poetry that was copyrighted and published. His love for nature moved him to craft beautiful furniture from materials he found in nature. He experienced great joy in hiking and canoeing. Another passion was photography; he had an eye for capturing nature's beauty. He loved the outdoors, nature and the ocean; visiting Cape Cod as often as he could.

He was a loving and devoted brother, a beloved uncle and great uncle and will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Leach, Jr.

Fred is survived by his sisters Carol Relyea (Edward), Rebecca LoGiudice (Joseph) and many loving nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only. Memorial donations may be made to the Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, 9097 NY-30, Blue Mountain Lake, NY 12812. Online condolences may be expressed at NewComerAlbany.com
