COHOES—Frederick Nicholas Britting died on Thursday, October 6th at the Eddy Village Green. Born August 12, 1913 to the late Frederick Britting and Barbara Seider. Fred attended Our Lady of Angels and Milne High Schools. As a young man he worked as a caddy and laborer at the original Colonie Country Club which was located on Wolf Road and Central Avenue in Colonie.
Fred began work in the United States Post Office in July 1934 and worked as a letter carrier until December 1973. He proudly served his country during World War II as a mailman second class.
Fred belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Sampson WWII Navy Veterans. He was baptized and belonged to the now closed Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Fred was an avid Gardener and took great pride in his vegetable garden and flowers.
Married to the late Joan Marie Loguidice on June 18, 1938 and resided in Town of Colonie all his life. He was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Cushman of Nevada. Fred is survived by his 3 daughters, Judith Ann and the late Edward Enos of Colonie, Janice Lee (Linwood) Robinson of Saratoga Springs, and Annette Frances and the late Jack Fox of Schuylerville, NY; 5 grandchildren, Edward J. Enos of Clifton Park, Jennifer Cassin of Loudonville, Leslie Dantz of Stillwater, Linwood Robinson of Saratoga Springs and John Neet of Clifton Park. He had 9 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, (formerly St. Francis deSales) 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave., Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 PM.
