Frederick H. Smith, Jr.

Frederick H. Smith, Jr., 54, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023 after a courageous 9 year battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He put up one hell of a fight until he passed peacefully surrounded by his family. Frederick was the son of the late Frederick Smith, Sr. and Diane Smith.

Fred enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach, around a bonfire, and cooking ribs on his smoker. After growing up and raising a family in upstate New York, Fred spent his last year living in Lakewood Ranch Florida enjoying the sunny weather. He traveled back to New York to spend his final days surrounded by family and loved ones at his sister's home.

Frederick is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jacquelyn Onorato Smith; his daughter, Jenna Smith; his son, Brandon Smith; his brother, Scott Smith and wife, Kelly; his sister, Kelly Tortello and husband, Joseph; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 9:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany.
