GUILDERLAND CENTER - On April 28, 2012, Frederick T. Berschwinger, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Leonard and Anna Berschwinger. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Fred was a well known custom home builder specializing in cabinetry, retiring 20 years ago. He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Altamont Classic League at Weaver Lanes for over 25 years.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Wanda; infant grandson Jesse Alan Miltner and his sister Anna Bastiani. Fred is survived by his devoted daughters, Nancy (Stephen) Caruso and Sally Berschwinger; his cherished grandchildren, Laura Caruso, Heather Ostrander and Chris Miltner (Brynn Wintle); and Hannah Genevieve Miltner his great granddaughter, due to arrive in August; two brothers Leonard (Jan) and Richard (Yvonne) Berschwinger and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday May 6th at 1:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, 304 Howes Cave Rd., Howes Cave, NY 12092.
