TROY – Frederick (Fred) Tyson, 77, husband of Shirley Daniels Tyson, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 17, 2014.
Fred was born on October 15, 1936 in Farmville, North Carolina to the late Ms. Mamie Tyson. He was educated in the North Carolina School District and later moved to Troy, New York in 1954 where he met and married Shirley Daniels.
Fred was employed by Chuckrow, Adrondack Steel, Portex and Cardish Machine Shop from which he later retired.
Fred enjoyed sports. Football was his favorite sport he was a member of the Troy Titans back in the sixities. His position was defensive end and he was given the nickname "Stonewall Tyson". He also played softball with the Canty Panthers. He was an avid New York Jets Fan.
He was often called "Top of the Line" due to his flair for style and fashion.
In addition to his wife Shirley, Fred is survived by his children, Lynnwood (Lorraine) Tyson of Troy, NY, Jeffrey (Alisa) Tyson of Troy, NY and Jennifer (David) Tyson-Diaz of Charlotte, NC. He is predeceased by two children, Randy Johnson and Freddie Hicks.
He also leaves to cherish in his memories six grandchildren, Anitra Stinney, Tysha (Domingo) Tyson-LaBoy, Rashad Tyson, Janika Tyson, Ayla Tyson and Ja'Shon Tyson; six great grandchildren; one Uncle JC Hopkins of Farmville, NC and a special cousin Donald Vines of Maryland; three brothers-in-law, Dana (Joyce) Daniels, Jerry (Beulah) Daniels and Robert (Gwen) Daniels all of Troy, NY, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
