Freeman C. Vanalstyne

February 18, 1947 — February 28, 2021

Freeman C. VanAlstyne Jr., loving husband and father, passed away Sunday February 28th, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital at the age of 74, with his devoted wife Terry by his side.

Freeman was born and raised in Albany. Before retiring in 2013, Freeman spent 15 years as a service associate at St. Peters Hospital. Freeman's favorite saying was, "I always go to work with a smile on my face."

He looked forward to helping the patients and working with the staff on 6 McAuley. He enjoyed watching Western movies and was an avid WWE wrestling fan. His favorite wrestler was John Cena, and much like John Cena, Freeman believed "No matter how great the setback, how severe the failure, YOU NEVER GIVE UP."

Freeman will be held in the heart of his beloved wife Theresa Lindsey, who was always by his side in sickness and in health.

He is survived by his loving daughters by a previous marriage, Brenda VanAlstyne, who went over and above in the love and care she gave her father, Catherine Engelhart (Jessie Eaton), Tanya Hall (Todd), Christine White, Donita VanAlstyne (Bill Bauer), Teresa VanAlstyne (Freddy Jimenezdejesus), very special friend and WWE fan, Brandon Rios.

Freeman was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

He is also survived by his loving sisters and brothers, Florence Hegedorn, Karen Hooks, Bonny Vogel, Diana Ortiz (Joe),
Debbie Corcione, William VanAlstyne (Patty), Kenneth VanAlstyne, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Freeman and Terry shared a storybook romance much like the couple Allie and Noah in the book and film The Notebook.

Freeman's life was a blessing to all who knew and loved him and he will be greatly missed beyond words.
