Frieda P. Laning

ROTTERDAM – Frieda Paula (De Cuyper) Laning, 71, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Jan De Cuyper and Lieva (Delin) De Cuyper Schols.

Frieda was a resident of Webster, NY, near Rochester, for 41 years before moving to Rotterdam. She was employed by Curtis-Burns, Inc. for 13 years, and was active in the insurance industry for over ten years. Frieda was a member of Forest Park Reformed Church in Queens from 1956 to 1965. She enjoyed square and round dancing, gardening, writing, reading, sewing and embroidery. Frieda cherished the time spent with her nieces and nephews. She also found pleasure on her many cruises and European vacations with her husband, Ray.

Along with her parents, Frieda was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Ronald L. Laning.

She will be missed by her husband of almost 50 years, Raymond Laning, Jr., who for 22 years was Frieda's loving caregiver following a serious automobile accident in 1991.

Frieda also leaves behind brother Conrad (Lorraine) De Cuyper; brother-in-law Robert L. Laning and eight nieces and nephews.

The family sincerely appreciates the loving and attentive care given to Frieda at Pathways Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Niskayuna during the last six weeks.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, 40 North Main Avenue, Albany, New York 12203 or Pathways Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1805 Providence Avenue, Niskayuna, NY 12309 in Frieda's name.
