G. Monica Richardson

September 8, 1935 — June 4, 2013

ALBANY- G. Monica Richardson, 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born September 8, 1935 in Kingston, Jamaica, BWI, the daughter of Kathleen Thelwell and Vance Waldron. Monica left Jamaica in August 1958 for Nursing School in London, England. She met and married Linwood Richardson in London, England in 1959. Monica is the mother of four daughters Sharon D. Callender of Guilderland, NY, Michele A. Gonzalez (Samuel) of Sleepy Hollow, NY, Diane P. Richardson of San Jose, CA, and Janette R. Richardson of Niskayuna, NY. Grandmother of Michael A. Richardson of Albany, NY, Alicia Galimore (Nate) of Niskayuna, NY, Monaa Caramanna (John) of Niskayuna, NY, Justin and Samantha Gonzalez of Sleepy Hollow, NY, Juanita, Alfonso, Angel, Arianna Villafuerte and Kassy Richardson of San Jose, CA. Great grandmother of 5. Sister in law of Thomas W. Richardson of Albany, NY and Betty J. Farmer of Virginia.
Monica worked for Traveler's Insurance Company and retired in January 1994. She took this job in lieu of her chosen profession to be able to be with her family while they were young. Monica loved to travel and did when her family was self-supporting. She was very happy that she got to see many of the places she wanted to see then instead of planning to see them later. Now she is on her final journey. She would like those who knew her to remember her as she was before she left on this eternal journey and did not have time to say goodbye to you all.
Funeral service will be private. Her final resting place will be where Monica was born.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Monica.
The family would like to thank all of our neighbors and friends who were so kind in offering their help and services in so many ways from the beginning to end. We would also like to thank Dr. Kronick for the medical and professional care he and his staff provided, and also to Community Hospice for their kind and gentle expertise in caring for Monica in her time of need.
