Gael Casey Vecchio

VOORHEESVILLE- Gael Casey Vecchio, 81, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 25, 2022 at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on June 21, 1940 in Staten Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Hon. Augustine B. Casey and Elaine (Clark) Casey.
Gael was a graduate of St. Joseph's Hill Academy in Staten Island, attended Villanova University and received her bachelor's degree in Education from St. John's University. She had a long career in real estate working for several local companies until becoming co-owner of Chandler & Vecchio Real Estate and an instructor for The Knowledge Network teaching real estate licensing courses.
Gael was a longtime member of the League of Women Voters and Vanguard-Albany Symphony Orchestra. She enjoyed volunteering for the annual Vanguard Showhouse and as an usher at many symphony events.
In addition to her parents, Gael was pre-deceased by her brother, Joseph "Kevin" Casey.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael and Thomas Vecchio, her daughter, Elaine (Doug) Bernhard; grandchildren, George and Matthew Bernhard and Francesca Vecchio. Gael is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Saint Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview Street, Voorheesville, NY 12186. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Staten Island, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or the Albany Symphony Orchestra.
