Garfield Burlett

Garfield W. Burlett, 80, of Gloversville, N.Y. passed away on June 18, 2024.

He was born in Gloversville on February 4, 1944 to the late Abraham and Helen Burlett.

Gar was a Johnstown Moose member where he thoroughly enjoyed playing shuffleboard!!! Even as this disease progressed, he was still able to play very well.

He had many jobs in his life but his favorite was custodian for Foothills United Methodist Church. He was there for over twenty years until they let him go.
We were able to spend the winter with Gars daughter Toni and her family. He was able to spend a lot of time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was even able to see his oldest great granddaughter, Kara, dance in a school program.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased his brother, Frank, his sisters, Pauline and Rose and his step son, James Brown(Meg).

Gar is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Claudia, four children, Toni (Tony), Garfield Jr., Matthew (Dixie) and Jennifer, stepdaughter, Cyndi (Mike) as well as grandchildren John(April), Danielle(Jason), Shaunna(Thomas), Shanna(Nick), Ryan, Adam(Marissa), Jessica, Kourtney,(Justin), Haley(Manny), Kody, Kalei, Step grandchildren Jeffrey(Trish), Justin(Amber), John(Alicia).

He is also survived by great grandchildren Karragan, Ethan, Aubrey, Evan, Madison, Miley, Kristopher, Callum, Daisy, Eion, Elijah, Alex, Abraham, Aurora, and Isabella, Step grandchildren Cheyenne (Robert), Mackenzie, William, Simeon, Rachel(Gabriel) Lilly, Myles. There are even two great great grandchildren!! In addition he is survived by his "brother" Skip VanAlstyne. They might not have brothers by blood, but they were closer than any brothers could be.

Services will be held Aug.1st at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church 22 N Main St, Mayfield, NY 12117 at 5:30 calling hours followed by the service of celebration.
