LATHAM – Garry C. Snyder, 54, of Latham, went to be with his mother and father in heaven on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
Garry was born in Albany and was the son of the late Harold R. and Elizabeth (Kelleher) Snyder and grandson of the late Cornelius and Alice Kelleher. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, where he was a star basketball player, outscoring the entire Bishop Gibbons Team at a varsity game on January 17, 1975. He was Most Valuable Player of the Ravena Memorial Tournament in 1974 and received a full athletic scholarship to Alfred University. He was a supervisor and manager for Edgecomb Steel and Schaap Moving Storage for over 20 years.
Garry was a gifted athlete, who loved basketball, Notre Dame Football, fast boats (which he drove to their outer limits), and vacationing at his family home on Schroon Lake.
Garry is survived by his three loving children, Jason (Jennifer) Snyder, Stephanie (Michael) Flood, and Justin Snyder and their mother, his former wife, Kathleen Scales. He was the beloved brother of Harold R. Snyder, Geraldine McMullen, and Betsy Clark; beloved uncle of Darrell and David Clark, Christopher and Jennifer Snyder, and Stacy and Brian McMullen; and cousin of Richard and Donald Hallock and Paul and Deborah Kelleher. He was the loving companion and friend of Donna Pratt. He is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua, and Shayla, as well as other cousins and relatives.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
