Gary V. Horton

Niskayuna- Gary V. Horton, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Albert and Helen Horton. Gary was the devoted husband to the late Virginia Horton. They were married 32 wonderful years.

After graduating from high school, Gary enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served proudly until his honorable discharge. Gary went on to work many jobs in his life but his favorite will always be when he was a Survival Instructor for the Airforce.

Gary loved spending time with his family, they were always his first priority. He enjoyed being outside and was always up for an adventure. Whether he was teaching life skills or just lending an ear, he was always supportive and encouraged everyone to pursue what made them happy. Gary was a hard worker who put others needs before his own.

Gary impacted everyone he knew, inspiring them to be virtuous and determined as he was; he never let anything stop him.

Gary is survived by his children, Whitney (Garrison) Sheehan, Devin (John) Lenkewich, Meredith Horton and Garrett Horton; sister, Pamela Woodward; brother, Jeffery Horton; and Granddaughter, Bailey Lenkewich.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205 on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 10am to 12pm with a funeral service to follow at 12pm. Burial will follow the service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
