Geneva Johnson

Geneva Johnson (Gramma G) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 31, 2021 in her home.

Geneva affectionately known as Mommy G OG and grandma Jay was born on August 10, 1937 in Suwannee, Florida. She is daughter to Minnie Grayson and Vasco Johnson. She graduated from Lucy C Laney High School. During her life, Geneva lived in Augusta, GA , Bronx, NY and Albany, NY. While living in the Bronx, Geneva became a mother to everyone. She then moved to Albany, where she remained until her passing.

Geneva enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a funny outgoing person who spoke her mind and told you how she felt. She gave tough love and had no filter which is what she was known and loved for. She would feed and shelter anyone who was in need, even if she cursed you out after but her heart was always bigger than her mouth. She made those who needed a mothers love know she was always there and would do whatever she could. There are many who call her mommy and many who wished she was their mommy. Geneva's straightforward tough love and honesty is what made her who she was.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hour on Friday November 5, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A celebration of life will follow from 12 to 1 p.m.
