COLONIE – Genevieve B. Raczkowski, 88, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005 at the Northwoods Health Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Troy.
Genevieve was born on February 26, 1917 in Amsterdam, NY to the late Stephen and Mary Runkowski Smitka. She grew up and attended schools in Amsterdam.
During WWII she was a supervisor at GE in Schenectady in the glazing department, where after the war she met her future husband, Ernest Raczkowski and was married on October 2, 1946. He died on January 14, 1980. She enjoyed cooking and playing bingo.
Genevieve is survived by her son Wayne A. Raczkowski and his wife Eileen of Loudonville; grandsons, Andrew Raczkowski and his wife Jennifer of Westborough, MA and Gregory Raczkowski of Albany; brothers, Edwin Smitka and his wife Ceil and John Smitka and his wife Willette all of Amsterdam; a sister, Irene Nyhoff of San Rafel, CA and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille and a brother, Leonard.
At the special request of Genevieve all services will be private. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Schenectady.
