COLONIE/ALTAMONT – Genevieve A. Staub, 91, of Colonie, formerly of Altamont, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 surrounded by her children after battling several illnesses.
Born on January 12, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Jones of Sharon Hill, PA.
Genevieve was a resident of Altamont for 47 years and was very active in her church, St. Lucy's. She worked in the food pantry, Senior Luncheons and was also a Eucharistic Minister. She was currently active for the last 5 years as a congregate of Christ Our Light Church in Loudonville, where she helped with church mailings for various campaigns as well as cleaning and ironing the altar linens.
Genevieve was employed as a head receptionist for several years at Equifax Services on Washington Avenue in Albany. She also greatly enjoyed her "many children" in Altamont as a Crossing Guard for over 10 years. She often talked about her children that she lovingly helped cross the street during the school year.
She very much enjoyed meeting with her friends "The Golden Girls" as they called themselves at the Home Front Café for lunch once a week after line dancing or one of their many other activities.
She was a very kind giving and thoughtful person who would do anything for anyone. She was one of the world's greatest "huggers" always ready to give you a very warm thoughtful hug. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl; her brothers, Thomas, William, James and Richard; sisters, Margaret, Elizabeth and son-in-law, Frank Murphy.
Genevieve leaves behind to greatly mourn her passing, her 5 children, Edwin (Kathy) Staub, Genevieve Murphy, James Staub, Riann (Stephen) O'Brien and Linda Staub; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville.
