George A. Crucetti

May 17, 1930 — August 10, 2013

Watervliet - George A. Crucetti, 83 of Watervliet passed into eternal life on August 10, 2013 after a brief illness surrounded by his loving wife, Joan, of 61 years and his children. Born in Watervliet on May 17, 1930, he was the son of the late George and Victoria D'Amico Crucetti. A graduate of Vincentian Institute George worked his adult life in retail mostly as a carpet buyer for Standard furniture and the Rug and Carpet Outlet in Troy.

George lived his life for his family who he so cherished. He was their rock, their caretaker but most of all the man who everyone turned to in good times and bad times. George was an avid bowler, reader, puzzle maker and a diehard Yankee and Giants fan. He loved his 1-3, 3-1 daily double at the Saratoga racetrack, but his favorite pass time was scouring the Sunday fliers to find the best deals he could possibly find. He loved to travel and for many years enjoyed the beautiful beaches and winter life of Puerto Rico with his wife Joan. He always looked forward to his Saturday morning breakfast at Bob's Diner in Watervliet with his sons. George was a member of the Watervliet Elks Lodge 1500 in Watervliet.

He is the beloved husband of Joan McCarty Crucetti whom he adored: devoted father of Victoria, Anthony (Carol), William (Margie Scully), Linda and Paul; his loving grandchildren Christina (Rob) Fortin and Nicholas (Christina Marie) and the newest member of the Crucetti family, his great granddaughter, Camila Grace. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his next great granddaughter who he will bless from the heavens above; brother of the late Angelo, Anthony and John; son-in-law of the late Edith McCarty.

His closest friends and in-laws Jerry and Barbara McCarty without their support, love and care he would not have had an easy time over the last several years survive George. Several nieces and nephews especially Jerry and MaryEllen, Jennifer and Rebecca Crucetti also survive him.

George's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call on Tuesday at Cummings Funeral Home on Third Avenue, Watervliet from 4:00-7:00PM. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Seton Health Foundation, St. Mary's Hospital 1300 Massachusetts Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 in George' name would be appreciated.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of 3 North of St. Mary's hospital for the wonderful care given to George.
