SCHENECTADY, NY – George C. Lofstedt, 96, passed away at home on Saturday, December 29, 2007, after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Carl and Elsie Lofstedt. He moved to Brooklyn, NY and resided and worked there until he retired in 1973. Mr. Lofstedt was a member of the Lithuanian Club in Long Island, NY. George is the husband of Ettamae (Monty) Lofstedt. He is the father of Dolores R. Wilson of Dayton, OH and the stepfather of Marcia Pratt of Wilton, NY, Bonnie (Anthony) Caroprese of Casa Grande, AZ, Mary Hopkins of Dayton, OH, Harold (Doreen) Hopkins of Central Bridge, NY, Irene Coons of Selkirk, NY and Arlene Pauelek of New Jersey. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, over 10 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will private at the convenience of the family in the Ballston Spa Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of George C. Lofstedt.
