ROTTERDAM_George Clute, 95, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 14, 1920 to George and Mary (Richmond) Clute at Schenectady, NY.
George was a lifelong resident of Rotterdam. He married his wife Elva on February 24, 1942 and they raised their family in Rotterdam. George retired from GE after 41 years of service. George was a devoted husband and father, he enjoyed his grandchildren, camping and spending time outdoors doing yard work and visiting the ocean in Cape Cod. George leaves behind his beloved cat, Princess, whom he adored.
George is survived by his children, Pauline (William) Jansen, George James (Lorraine) Clute; grandchildren, Lisa (Kenneth) Day, William (Alyssa) Jansen, Amy (Scot) Kimball, Jennifer (William) Phelps; great-grandchildren, Sarah Higgins, Matthew Higgins, Lila Jansen, Eric Phelps, Jocelyn Kimball, Robert Kimball, Tyler Kimball; sister, Mildred Avery and several nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
George is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Elva Clute; brothers, Leonard Clute, Raymond Clute and sisters, Laura Ostrowski and Marie Revette.
Private services will take place at New Comer Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
