COLONIE-George H. Cable, 89, passed into the hands of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday March 17, 2008 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Fishkill, he was the son of the late Anna Mae Williams and George Cable Sr.
George was honored to serve his country during WWII in the US Army. He received several medals but was very humble and never spoke about them. We are thankful to have them as a military tribute to his dedication to the United States. Dad worked three jobs a day to give selflessly of himself to support his family. He was a very proud man and would not accept any hand outs from others. He was determined to rear his family on his own and he succeeded beautifully with the help of his loving wife, Grace.
George is the beloved husband of 66 years to Grace P. Cable. He is the devoted father of George M. Cable, William H. (Almavina) Cable, Floyd C. (Virginia) Cable, Bruce A. (Rita) Cable, Marvin J. (Mary) Cable, Mrs. Brenda J. Cable, Brian G. Cable, Wendy M. (Arnold) Slifstein, Wayne G. Cable, Kevin C. (Hazel) Cable, Ronald M. Cable and Sharon L. (William) Templer. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Mr. Cable's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Hospice and the Doctors, nurses and all of the wonderful staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care for both Mom and Dad. You are a special group of talented caregivers and we are forever grateful.
