COLONIE – George W. Hall, III, 80, entered into eternal life on Saturday April 30, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.
George is a US Army veteran having served during WWII in the European Theatre and was a decorated Purple Heart recipient. After his discharge from the Army, George was employed by (KAPL) Knolls Atomic Power Lab where he worked for several years. He later was self employed in automobile repair and operated Halls' Transmissions in Colonie. More recently, he was responsible for maintaining the vehicle fleet at the US Postal Service in Colonie.
George's passion was stock car racing, He owned his own car and raced at Fonda Speedway. He enjoyed Nascar racing, go-karting and motorcycling with his family. He was an active member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club where he went on many road trips, including a cross the country to California. George was an active member of Christ Community Church in Rotterdam.
He is the husband of the late Audrey Wakefield Hall. He is the beloved father of A. Jean Mink (Stephen) of Albany, Linda Hall –Bachner (Richard) of Rochester, Wendy Hall (Donna Valese) of Jamesburg, NJ, George W. (Skip) Hall IV (Chris) of Lula, GA and Rick Hall (Susan) of North Beach, MD. He is the brother of Richard Hall (Irene) of Ovido, FL. Grandfather of Joshua and Zachary Hall-Bachner, Gabriel and Shannon Hall, Leanne, Danielle and Cameron Hall. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral; services will be Wednesday evening at 7:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday for 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine View Cemetery in Glens Falls. At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12308 or to the Leukemia Association.
