George J. Kot, Sr., 92, passed away Wednesday January 21, 2009 at the Julie Blair Nursing Home.
He was born in Fairview, NJ the son of the late John and Mary (Kodyba) Kot. George moved to Albany as a young man and was a long time resident. He served in the US Army for 14 years retiring from the service as a Master Sergeant and later worked with the New York State Department of Transportation retiring in 1985. George was an avid bowler, a member of the American Bowling Association and Secretary and Treasurer of the Adult & Child "Father & Son" Bowling Leagues from 1965 – 2006. He was also a member Joseph E. Zaloga Post.
George was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Florence, his grandson George J. Kot, III and several siblings.
He is survived by his son George (Audrey) J. Kot, Jr. of Niskayuna, granddaughters; Dawn M. Kot of Rotterdam, Laurie A. Kot of Waterford and Sheri L. Monroe of Clifton Park, great-grandsons; Matthew Laraway and Michael Monroe, great-granddaughters; Christine Laraway and Mikayla Monroe and great-great grandson Broden Laraway.
The family would like to acknowledge with sincere thanks all the love and support shown by his nephew Tony "Butch" and wife Linda Portanova and his best friend Glenn Koblenzer and a special thanks to the 3rd and 5th floor personnel at Jule Blair Nursing Home.
The funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.).
