George L. Parent, Sr.

SCOTIA, NY – George L. Parent, Sr., 93, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Glendale Nursing Home after a brief stay. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elmire Parent. George lived in Schenectady for most of his life. He worked for over 30 years at General Electric Company before retiring. After his retirement from G.E., George worked for Schenectady County Court as a bailiff for sixteen years. He was a long time member of the GAUN-OHA Rod and Gun Club. George was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp on Sacandaga Lake. George was the beloved husband of the late Bernice M. Parent. He is the devoted father of Carol Piper and the late Patricia A. Peek and George L. Parent, Jr. He is the cherished grandfather of Arnold Richard Peek, Kathleen Boilard, Michelle Palleschi, Christine Peek, Maria Myers and Lisa McMurphy. George is the loving great-grandfather of Ann Marie Robst, Melissa and Jennifer Peek and Christopher and Matthew Palleschi. Also surviving are several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
