George "Joe" A. Lenegar

GUILDERLAND- George A. Lenegar "Joe", 80, passed away on August 17, 2024. Born in Carthage, NY he was son of the late Iva (Jones) and Percy Lenegar.

George graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in June of 1962. He married Merril-Lee Lenegar (Turner) on May 29, 1965. 

George is survived by his wife, Merril-Lee Lenegar; children, Gregory P. Lenegar (Susan) and Jennifer E. Murray; grandchildren, Gregory P. Lenegar, Cassidy T. Lenegar, and Joshua D. Murray (Libbie); great-grandchildren, Emerson and Maeve Murray, and Kason Davis; siblings, Patricia Kaine, Mary Lou Langen, and Charles Lenegar (Rita). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Frances Walker and brother, Alan Lenegar.

George built houses for the E.M. Kaine Company for many years in Albany, Guilderland and Voorheesville. He also worked with other contractors and was Superintendent of the DeWitt Clinton Apartments before starting his own business- Joel Remodeling.

He taught woodworking in the evenings for a few years at the Albany Boy's Club. As his children were growing up he supported them in their sports and scout activities. As a family they loved camping, Cape Cod, and New Jersey vacations. As adults, they would travel to Cancun. George also traveled to England, France, Ireland, and throughout the United States.

A private graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery in Delmar at the convenience of the family.
