Albany – George E. Lezotte, 81, died Sunday January 27, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
George E. Lezotte was born to the late George and Helen Lezotte January 4th 1927, in Waterbury, CT. Graduated from the Connecticut School Systems and later served as a Photo-Journalist in the the United StatesNavy, where he also taught photography at the U S Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL.
George came to Albany in 1957 as a Program-News Manager at WTRY. He later joined WTEN, Chanel Ten, as News Anchor, a post he held for ten years. George left broadcasting to join the New York State Division of Alcoholism as Director of public information, a post he held for several years. In 1982 George rejoined WTRY-WPYX as Director of News, then left that position in 1991 to join the public information staff at the Center For the Disabled.
George is a past president of the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Capitol District Media Task Force.
He is survived by his wife Jennie Mae of Loudonville, and his grandson Harry Lauer of Seattle Washington and his wife, Taeya and their children Caden and Cassidy.
Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Church or St. Pius X church.
