REXFORD - George Booth Matern Sr., 91 --- husband, father, grandfather, uncle, outdoorsman and engineer --- died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Other adventures included rescue diving, snorkeling, downhill skiing and riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Like his father, George could fix almost anything. He drank his coffee light and sweet; vanilla milkshakes were another favorite --- a preference that continues today with younger family members.
He watched old movies on television and especially loved westerns. One of George's ambitions was to visit Monument Valley (located on the Navajo Nation within Arizona and Utah) the site of several John Wayne and other western movies. Along with wife Lynne, son George, daughter Peggy and her husband Allen. George eventually made the trip in September of 2019.
He appreciated cowboy music and singers Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Marty Robbins, among others. He also listened to American standards and quartets such as the Four Freshmen.
