George A. Meitch

July 21, 1933 — August 12, 2021

GUILDERLAND- George A. Meitch, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Albany Medical Center Hospital on August 12, 2021.

He was born in Albany, the son of the late Anthony and Alice Meitch. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Meitch and his sister Anne Blair.

George was a graduate from St. John's High School, class of 1951. He then graduated from Siena College and furthered his education, obtaining his Masters of Public Administration degree from the University at Albany.

He served in the Army Finance Corp. from 1955-1957.

George worked at the New York State Department of Health as Administrator for 17 years and then was self-employed as a Healthcare Consultant for 25 years.

He served on the Board of Directors for various voluntary community organizations.

George was a kind and generous man, who always had time for you.

He enjoyed the great outdoors- Lake George, biking and boating. However, his greatest love and joy was his family and their gatherings together.

George is survived by his beloved significant other, Anita Dingman; children, Diane (Donald) Abbruzzese, Donna (Dominic) Crupi, Joseph (Elizabeth) Meitch, Linda (Timothy) Reilly; grandchildren, Nicholas and Brian Crupi, Kevin Reilly, Anna Abbruzzese, Dylan Meitch, Lauren Reilly and Victoria Meitch; his sister, Eleanor (James) Tyler and his former wife and mother of his children, Jacquelyn Meitch.

His beloved feline friend Mario also survives him.

All services will be private. Entombment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
