George J. Merhige, Iii

Valley Falls--George J. Merhige, III, age 50, passed away on December 30, 2017. He was born June 13, 1967 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, the son of Faith Allen of Albany.

He was the brother to Colleen Pekrul and Candy Smith, both of Kansas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Allen and nephew Noah Alexander Smith.

George was a graduate of Troy High School and worked as an auto mechanic. He managed the Cole Muffler shop in Troy, Albany, Mack Truck and recently for Kearney's Automotive, part time following an injury related disability. George loved his family, work, children and animals (Diva and Percy). He was avid fan of the New York Giants. He persevered through life challenges and medical issues until his heart failed. The man above has work for him now.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be donated to the George J. Merhige, III Memorial Fund at TD Bank North or Friends of Animals.
