George J. Murphy, Jr.

ALTAMONT – George J. Murphy, Jr., 76 passed away on December 6, 2022.
He was born in Albany on April 4, 1946, a son of the late George and Elisa (Pierce) Murphy, Sr. He graduated from Guilderland Central High School and Oswego State University with a Bachelors' Degree.
George was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Following the military, George was a Steam Fitter, working for Local 7 out of Latham, retiring after 35 years in 2006.
He was an avid golfer and hunter.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, James T. Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irene "Ginger" (Salvinski) Murphy; his daughter, Kristen A. Murphy; a sister, Patricia (Patrick) Shaffer; a brother, Michael (Sandra) Murphy; sisters-in-law, Delores and Carol Salvinski; brother-in-law, James Salvinski and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a memorial service to immediately follow at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
