George P. Fischer

GUILDERLAND – George P. Fischer, 80, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday evening at the Inn of Community Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Alphons and Emma Rapp Fischer.
George served in the US Navy from 1953 through 1955. He had owned and operated the former Fischer's McKowns Grove Swimming Pool in Guilderland for many years. George was a bus mechanic for the Guilderland Central School District for over twenty five years. He enjoyed boxing, bowling, Nascar and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
George is the beloved husband of 59 years to Linda Van Wormer Fischer. He is the devoted father of Robert G. (Susan) Fischer, Joanne B. (Stephen) Cadalso and Thomas W. Fischer. He is the proud grandfather of Robert C. (Melissa), Kelly S., Cassandra M. (Kevin) and Christopher T. Fischer. He is the great grandfather of Skyler Rose. George is the brother of Emma V. Hein and Mary Blendell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relative s and friends are invited and may call on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. In keeping with George's wishes, please omit flowers.
