George R. Petitt

George R. Petitt , 90 of Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023. Born in Schenectady he was the son of the late Harriet and William R. Petitt. George served in the Army from 1952 to 1960 stationed in Korea. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 33 years of service. George is a life time member of the VFW 1895 and the Rotterdam Elks 2157. His favorite past time was watching the stock market on CNBC and trips to Saratoga and Turning Stone Casino playing machine poker.
George was married to Alice (Betty) Liggett for 48 years who predeceased him in 2006. George is survived by his daughter Kelly (Chet) Pennacchia. His grandchildren; great-grandchildren and longtime companion Julia DeBie.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY 12205, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York 1003 New Loudon Rd, Cohoes, NY 12047 in George's memory.
