GUILDERLAND – George Pfleiderer, 96, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Loudonville Home for Adults surrounded by his children. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Hofbauer) Pfleiderer.
George was a Teamster Union Official and a Trade Unionist for the Beer Brewer's Union in New York City. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Italy in the Army Air Corps. He achieved the rank of Technical Sargeant maintaining B-17s for the 483 Bombardment Group.
George was a Mason and a member of the Lessing Lodge in Queens, New York.
George was an antique car enthusiast. Upon retirement, George and his wife Lisa spent many years restoring a Model A Ford and enjoyed events as members of the Mohawk Antique Car Club.
George was predeceased by his wife Lisa of 59 years. He is survived by his sons Roy (Pat) Pfleiderer of Syracuse, NY; Glen (Dorothea) Pfleiderer of Voorheesville, NY; and by his four grandsons, Paul (Jess) Pfleiderer of Bellmore, NY; Steven Pfleiderer of Syracuse, NY; John (Nadia) Pfleiderer of Albany, NY; and James (Kim) Pfleiderer of Albany, NY. George is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Kayden, Kaya, and Nathaniel Pfleiderer.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Colonie. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Loudonville Home for Adults and Community Hospice of Albany.
