George R. Kendall, Jr. passed away on May 7, 2015 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. He was 80 years old.
The son of the late George R. and Zylphia M. (Cromwell) Kendall, Sr., George was born on August 29, 1934 in Albany, NY.
A long-time local entertainer, George was passionate about music and its power to heal. He played guitar and sang with many groups and friends throughout the years. He also performed with his choir at The Unionville Reformed Church. George volunteered his talents and a large majority of his time playing for local nursing homes, the VA Hospital and various charitable organizations.
When George was not performing, he was volunteering his time in the community. He could often be found driving seniors to appointments or helping do home repairs for those in need. For his efforts, George received the Albany County Executive's Volunteer Award in 2011 and 2013. George lived his life with the motto, "If everyone gave one hour a week of their time, no one would be lonely."
George is survived by his children: Aaron M. Louprette, James A. (Lauren) Kendall and Paul H. (Patricia) Kendall; his siblings: Virginia L. Davey, Robert C. Kendall, Katherine L. Johnson, A. Louise Kendall; his grandchildren: Mckenna M. and Caden H. Kendall.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday May 13 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in George's name to Unionville Reformed Church, 1134 Delaware Tpke, Delmar, NY 12054.
