SARATOGA SPRINGS – George T. McGloine, Jr., 76, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
George was born on January 21, 1938 in Albany and was the son of the late George T. Sr. and Constance (Drake) McGloine. He worked as a court reporter for Albany County Court, then for the Federal Government and retired from the NYS Worker's Compensation Board. He was one of the few court reporters in NYS to achieve the Certificate of Merit Award. He served as the president of the Court Reporters Association for several years. He enjoyed playing guitar in a band with his brother – called the Mack Brothers, golfing, exercising and doing crosswords.
George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence R. (Vishnesky) McGloine; his loving children, Kelly (Michael) Attanasio of Saratoga Springs and Gary McGloine of Ballston Lake; his cherished grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Murphy, Christopher (Katelynn) Attanasio, Carli McGloine, and Olivia McGloine; four great grandchildren, Graden, Brody, Michael, and Oliver; his brother, James (Gaye McKinney) McGloine; his sister, Sharon (Frederick) DeCasperis and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Catricala.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
