George Caleb Thomas, 83, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, July 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 6, 1937, at home, in Jackson, NY to the late Florence and William (Decker) Thomas.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce (Harris); sons, William (Joan) and George (Stacy); and son in law, Robert Hurley; beloved grandchildren, Steven (Emily), Adam, Alicia, Lucas, Leanna (Jimmy), Shawn (Theresa), Jon, Tim (Sally); and 14 great grandchildren. George was predeceased by his brothers, William, Robert (Betty) and Frank (Beatrice); and daughter, Deborah Hurley.
George worked tirelessly, until his retirement, for Laborers Local 452 out of Troy, NY. George's passions included the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing; and spending time with his family. After retirement, you could always find George lending a hand and his knowledge to all of his family and friends with their building projects.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Community Hospice for their sincere support and care.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
