ROTTERDAM – Georgette Turcotte, 82, of Rotterdam, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006. Born in Rotterdam on July 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Valida Tetrault. As a child, she moved to St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada where she attended grade school. At age 15, she returned to Rotterdam and graduated from Draper High School. Georgette owned and operated the Rotterdam Telephone Answering Service. After selling her business, she worked part time for NYS State Tax and Labor Dept., retiring in 1999. Mrs. Turcotte was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Rotterdam and a member of the VFW Hilderbrand Davis Post #1895 Auxiliary. Georgette enjoyed knitting, sewing crafts, and putting memory albums together for her family. She was also an avid genealogy researcher and family photographer. Georgette was predeceased in 1982 by her loving husband of 38 years, Joseph. She is the beloved mother of Georgette Ingoglia and her husband, Jerry of Rotterdam, Mark Turcotte and his wife, Paula of Rotterdam and Arthur Turcotte of Berne. She is the sister of Arthur Tetrault and his wife, Patricia of Niskayuna and the late Yvonne Brandin and Sgt. Marcel Tetrault. She is the cherished grandmother of Christopher Ingoglia and his wife, Kimberly, Mark Turcotte, II and his wife, Amanda, and Deah and Rosemary Turcotte. Georgette is the devoted great-grandmother of Christian Ingoglia , Cameron Turcotte and Courtney Stefaniak. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Expressions of sympathy may be made at newcomerfamily.com
