Georgiann Berner
February 11, 1951 — October 3, 2023
East Nassau - Georgiann (Georgie) Berner, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Peter's Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late George and Florence Yetto. Georgie was the devoted wife to her loving husband Bruce H. Berner. They were married for 54 adventure and love filled years.
Georgie enjoyed spending time with her entire family. She was an avid crafter who for years enjoyed crafting for local craft fairs. She loved the Adirondacks where she and Bruce camped, hiked and kayaked. She loved riding snow mobiles in the winter and had a passion for gardening and fishing in the summer. Some of her favorite adventures were with Bruce riding their motorcycle. She worked for Averill Park School District for over two decades as a T.A. in Special Education services where she tirelessly advocated for her students whom she loved.
Georgie is survived by her Daughter, Sheila Pauly (Toby) and Son, Cory Berner (Lisa). She had a large and loving family including her beloved sisters Anne Burt (Sonny), Flo Ruffinen (Ronnie), and Pauline Iwanowicz (Teddy). She leaves behind grandchildren Joshua and Nathan Pauly whom she loved as well as family members Gary Berner (Linda) and Shirley Ernst.
She adored her feisty furbabies over the years including her beloved Skeeter (who will always be with Georgie) and her two yorkies Tinkerbell and Chloe whom she loved so much.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the tireless dedication and heart of Cheryl Ernst FNP and to all of the dedicated nurses at 5 McAuley at St. Peter's Health Hospital and to the devoted hospice angels who helped love and care for our beloved Georgie. They are truly our angels on earth.
